Pros

You are taked to work on projects that are entirely different in both the product and codebase. One day it could be a wordpress prjoect whereas another day it could be a jacked up MVC to another day with an okay MVC.

Cons

This company is a conglomerate of online companies that It buyes. You have to work on so many different codebases all the types from all the different acquisitions. Their internal codebase is very bad and they prefer you to add hacks to hacks instead of spending 5 more minutes in making it proper. Depending on which department you end up in, you could have either an 8-5 or a 7a-9pm. Due to the numerous projects that have everyone working on, their is duplicated code that is developed between departments. In some departments, developers are manged not by a development manager but by a product manager and in other departments they are managed by non engineers but buy hackers.

Pros

Relaxed dress code. Okay pay. Friendly coworkers

Cons

The actual products were kind of a scam. We offered to search for schools for people looking for jobs, and the only schools that were in the database were scammy, for-profit schools.

Pros

During my time at QuinStreet I've met some truly nice and intelligent folks. The company gives fresh college kids a shot to get some experience. Good coffee machine, some snacks, bagels etc.

Cons

Unfortunately, since joining QuinStreet I've noticed the decline of 1. Company performance (the education vertical stands out but other departments seem to struggle with product releases and subsequent strategies) 2. Employee Satisfaction, leading to high turnover across multiple departments I've interacted with 3. Unified Vision / Strategy - Did anything come of that insurance.com commercial? In many ways the story of QuinStreet can be summarized as a company gone astray with a questionable acquisition strategy, built on the promise of unending growth from the for profit education industry. The quality of QuinStreet's offering has always been questionable to me. The topic of engineering issues is the continued elephant in the room. A lot of the executive team have been around since the early days and the level of disconnect with some of these folks is alarming. The COO leaving was one of many red flags.
