-No diversity and most attempts for diversity and inclusion are performative -Most of their engineers are male and the current CTO and CEO have no intention to change that - CEO was a board member of a charity that lends money to people developing countries and charges interest. -Constant micro aggressions

Pros

* Your work matters -- even as an entry level employee you get some say in design and how things are built * For better or worse, Product has had some churn so engineers have a lot of say in the "what" of building the product * Lots of opportunity, the team is still under-resourced and expanding so you'll have plenty of chances to make an impact * Cloud is growing and there's lots of opportunity for technical leadership for interesting tech problems and systems * Working on distributed systems and coding in Rust

Cons

* "Qumulo C" -- Qumulo's own C language without much documentation, system engineering & concurrency issues, figuring things out with little support. * If you're a Vim user you'll love it here, otherwise some folks use VS Code but it doesn't integrate super well with the code base. * There are some general, expected growing pains for a mid-stage company. In some cases good practices around managing complexity are breaking down in the mid-stage growth period for the company, but this also opens up opportunities for career growth. * Flat structure -- this may depend on your personality but you will not very often meet with your manager. It's up to you to meet with your peers to get helpful career feedback. There are some problems with the hidden complexities of a large-scale flat organization. * There is not much diversity at the company.
