Pros

They will pay more than other companies for certain positions.

Cons

The biggest issue is the leadership team. If you get on one of their bad sides, you will get fired, period. One C-level executive monopolizes control and decisions of the entire company. The same executive does not have a good understanding of the product, company or what it may take to run the company successfully. There was a huge culture shift as well. It was a very close knit group that strived for authenticity, but it became something entirely different towards the end of my employment. Merit was given at random (mostly not at all) and did not seem to be based on contributions to the company. They have a great set of values but only on paper. There were more managerial staff than IC staff, almost 2 to 1. Also there were more project managers than projects. So many, I had no idea what they were doing aside from passing work from one to another. They should have hired more engineers and less PMs. None of the internal teams synced with each other and everyone blamed other teams for any bugs (which happened on a weekly basis). Engineers have to be on call to fix errors and most of them were errors that could only be solved by someone with very specific domain knowledge. They expect hard work with no clear direction. The engineering staff had to always focus on getting new features out the door instead of fixing the legacy code, which was full of bugs. This caused many long nights and when explaining to leadership, they never cared. The backlog consisted of a bunch of pie-in-the-sky nice-to-haves with no focus on real necessities. There were tons of meetings, almost 8hrs a day everyday with very little to show. Some of the meeting were just upper level people (HIPPOs) arguing with one another on the right way to do things, but not creating an action plan to move forward. A lot of problems arose because they were focused on an ideal state that was years away (ie we don't need QA people b/c all tests should be automated).

Pros

Amazing ICs to work with

Cons

leadership and product org failed the company. CEO and other other leaders lived in lalaland, every all-hands trying to sell fakeness to the company that all was well and plenty of funding.

Pros

An admirable mission with the potential to aid patients afflicted by a devastating disease, drawing in exceptional individuals.

Cons

A self-centered CEO with minimal regard for the well-being of the employees is undermining the company culture.
