Pros

I joined RAC nearly 7 years ago having been made redundant at my last company. Since I walked through the door, I can honestly say that it’s been one of the best things to happen to my career. I’ve seen the business grow and have huge success over that time. That success has been shared across our colleague network through our employee engagement program and the implementation of great benefits. The business focus on colleague wellbeing is second to none, with the pandemic being a great example, where colleagues were protected by furlough leave or had the opportunity of working from the safety of home. I’ve been privileged to be able to represent the business through a number of awards events, and seeing fantastic success, including my own department winning recognition from a respected industry body within the Contact Centre industry. RAC also has a superb individual recognition program, including our Orange Heroes annual gala event that celebrates those who have made a significant contribution to our performance. The business recognises the importance of work / life balance, and provides colleagues with tools that allow the opportunity to request annual leave outside of working hours, as well as a fantastic internal social media platform provided by Workplace, which is the centre of all business communications. I’m proud to call myself an RAC colleague and would recommend our business to anyone keen to join a business that cares about people, and rewards hard work.

Cons

Parking can sometimes be a bit of a challenge depending on shift time.

Pros

Working at RAC is all about the people! It's not hard to fine colleagues who are very passionate about their roles and feel strongly about the services provided by the RAC. It's also not had to find colleagues with long tenures , which is a strong indicator of colleague satisfaction with their role and the organisation. I've always felt supported in my various roles and generally teams work well together in an open environment. There are clear paths towards career development and this is openly encouraged. There many resources available to those who wish to develop their skills, develop themselves or their roles. Over recent years, much better structures have been developed to support mental health and colleague wellbeing.

Cons

Whilst internal communications are well developed, communication could be improved between business areas that work separately, but whose outputs affect each other. One has to be able to deal with change and accept when the focus may change. We're a dynamic business which involves trying new approaches, process and developing new products. The workload can be demanding and one has to be able to prioritise and manage the expectations of those making demands and request of one's time.

Fast pace and required trading focus is not for everyone.
