      I left on my own and am trying to return - big mistake to have left. Great IST team.

      Pros

      I was in IST and left within last year. Really big mistake. Should have stayed. I'm now trying to get my old job back. Lots of good stuff going on in the IST organization. Projects are progressing with a keen commitment to the Researchers. If you believe in delivering to your clients you need to work here. They are making it happen. I was there for many years when leadership wasn't so good but the leaders in IST now sure know what they are doing.

      Cons

      I was short sighted and now realize the good stuff going on. The past few years were pretty tough and they caused me to look for greener pastures. Boy, was I wrong. I needed to give these new leaders time. To those of you still there, be thankful and don't are mistake I made.

      IT turning around

      Pros

      New blood in IT organization. The relatively new CIO is doing wonders to turn the organization around from what it was - making a positive influence. It will take time to really turn things, but he is doing a very good job. Getting some excellent new people on board, need several more, and things will really improve.

      Cons

      Some of the IT staff are really good and some not so much. Everyone needs to step up. CIO is helping this.

      RAND's IS department is finally shaping into greatness.

      Pros

      After some management changes over the past couple of years, I am finally seeing the best management team in my 15+ years of employment with them.

      Cons

      I finally see positive movement towards RAND's vision and mission. The current management team is completely supportive and forward thinking.
