Pros

The people and environment are top notch, you cannot beat the location! I really loved my coworkers, the office location and how everyone got along there.

Cons

Salaried employee compensation is sub par with most of the payroll going to insanely high executive compensation. There are a lot of "adjunct staff" there which are basically contract employees with no benefits, because Rand is too cheap and greedy. I was privy to some of the salaries and was shocked when I saw that... I had people working under me without benefits because "it wasn't in the budget". I guess that was true since even the lowest level financial analyst was making a decent 6-figure salary.

Pros

Smart colleagues; interesting work; prestigious brand.

Cons

Intense internal market worked rather like a high school, with cliques, "in crowds," and others who never got to sit in the room where decisions are made. Work model discouraged collaboration and encouraged those with access to clients to horde their work and monopolize their access.

Pros

The people; the types of projects/subject matter; possibility to impact sponsor decision making

Cons

Incredibly bloated management and overhead structure causes intense inefficiencies and adds excessive operating costs. Publications team/Office of External Affairs is completely incompetent and should be restructured immediately. Excessive lead times for publications; excessive bureaucracy for anyone trying to have a timely impact on policy decisions.
