Pros

Great Office envirinment, access to the office, commission schedule, name recognition, resources for marketing and business development, Great for the true independent agent.

Cons

Expensive fees, not a good fit for the new agent, limited training, more pressure if not producing since you have a monthly bill to cover.

Pros

Autonomy - A true opportunity to run your own business Your potential for income is only limited by you Higher commission splits to agents than other companies generally allow Opportunities for industry information and training are plentiful National recognition as a respected organization

Cons

(remember that each office is independently owned and operated and may have different levels of quality in their management and support.) Monthly desk fees must be paid whether you're closing deals or not Not for 'part timers' Expenses, and there are plenty, are all out of pocket. Even though you are an Independent Contractor, management may treat you like a step-child if you don't bring in the numbers they expect. You are completely responsible for providing for your own benefits (ie: health, life, disability, retirement, etc.)
