Interesting business and technical problems to solve. Customers from a wide variety of industries, so in addition to company-to-company differences in an industry, there are a number of industries to learn about. Great staff members. Most are willing to share their knowledge. Work-life balance is great; most managers are willing to work with the staff to accommodate varying situations. Opportunities to take on additional responsibility exist if you want to do that, even for things you create on your own if they serve the company's goals. Benefits are better than some places, not as good as at others. There is a profit-sharing scheme with potential extra if the business does well. Breakfast on Mondays is a nice start to the week, and the lunchroom is well-stocked for other days.

After reading the negative reviews for RSS on this site, I felt like I needed to chime in. From what I can tell, most, if not all, of the reviews posted are for the Woodland Hills office. I am a current employee of the Cambridge office, and I have to say that my experience is completely different from what has been posted. But I don't really know much about the WH office. - The number one best thing about the Cambridge office is the people who work here. There are ~15 of us, from a mix of different departments. There is a lot of cross-department conversation and problem solving - the UX/QA team, Project Consultants, and Customer Consultants are constantly trading knowledge, asking for advice from each other, and helping each other out to reach the best and most efficient solution to issues. These are the kind of people you want to eat lunch with, plan events with, go on walks with. More than anything, the people here, and the collaborative atmosphere are the #1 reason why I feel RSS is a great place to work. - Since day 1, I feel like I have been able to have my opinion heard. If I have a new idea, a new way of doing something, or an observation about the software, I am taken 100% seriously. Because the software is such a complicated machine, it isn't always possible (at least in my position) to affect change right away, but my opinions are out there, and discussions are had with Innovation and Development, and there have been many major improvements to the software since I started working here, which I feel is the result of good collaboration between the different teams both here and in WH. This is something I see as a major plus in working for a small company. - There is a pretty big learning curve to getting the hang of RSS's software, but the senior employees and management were always available for my many questions, and because of that I learned a lot of valuable skills in a very short amount of time, as well as developing knowledge of the software. And a few years in, I am still definitely learning a lot of new things - both software-specific, and other translatable skills. - The atmosphere here is very relaxed. I am free to work on whatever I feel like, as long as I meet any necessary deadlines. No one is breathing down my neck, and my colleagues all seem very self-motivated. In all the time I've been here, I have never once been stressed out for work-related reasons. - The Cambridge office has grown in numbers, and recently moved to an fantastic new office that is bright, quiet, and a pretty interesting piece of New England architecture. The feel is a great mix of classical and modern, and in walking distance of lots of great food/shopping. Free snacks, coffee, tea. - Overall, my impression is that RSS is in the midst of a great push to grow, gain clients, modernize and update their software, and expand its functionality. It's a pretty good time to part of what's happening here. I also want to note that no one at RSS has told me to write this review, and I haven't told anyone that I'm writing it.
