It's Fine

Pros

Working at REI is fine, if a little boring. Discounts are great. There are benefits if you can get to full time hours.

Cons

They go as far as they can to exert anti-union pressure without actually doing anything illegal. Return policy is unclear and hard to enforce. Technology is unintuitive. It is very hard to get consistent hours. As soon as you think you have your schedule figured out, a dozen new people show up and all of your hours disapear.

Pros

Opt outside days, company sells cool gear

Cons

Management is generally bad. Very hypocritical. Too much drama for a retail job. There are obvious favorites
