Pros

Great atmosphere to work in, pay was ok. Discounts/benefits and work life balance were awesome. Overall a great place to work.

Cons

Crappy hours at times, short shifts made coming to work a chore at times (not worth the commute). Pushing memberships became a punishment for working (or not)

Pros

Since REI is a co-op, they can take a longer term view without shareholders breathing down their neck for short term gains. The co-op is also heavily involved in the communities where they do business and is an outstanding advocate for protecting the outdoors.

Cons

Advancement can be challenging especially if you're in IT. By nature, IT is a small organization so movement, lateral or upwards, is limited.
