Greedy Company - Stay away

Pros

..... honestly, it's hard to say...the discounts and pro deals...that's it.,.

Cons

Terrible management, also a very greedy and vindictive company that goes after its employees for wanting better rights and treatment. Hours and position were faulty and sketchy as a one-moment; you are working full time 35-45 hrs a week to only working 6 hrs a week without any promise of hours coming back to normal. Also experienced a fair share of racism and discrimination from certain managers....yea, just don't work here

Pros

Prodeals are great. good insurance

Cons

Everything else. REI is a horrible toxic company that uses there "co-op way" and "core values" to manipulate and gaslight empolyees. REI has a history of blacklisting people. They don't fire people. they "coach them out" which essentailly means that they make their jobs so awful the person will just. Their business model is really bad and i highly doubt their physical locations will still be open in ten years. They find every way they possibly can to not pay people a livable wage. especially employees who are people of color. REI is racist, sexist, ableist, and really just a down right awful company. The marketing team is fantastic. the things that are able to sweep under the rug is pretty impressive.

Pros

Amazing people trying to do great things.

Cons

Everything else. Sad. “The Way Forward” rei has effectively gotten rid of everything and everyone that made rei great. Tenure is viewed as an extreme negative. Those that remain/survived are powerless and just trying not to get fired. rei now struggles to follow the values it so loudly markets. Shame on rei. Employee and rei Members deserve much better. The current unionization is just another symptom of its failures.
