      the best co-workers you will ever find, get to talk about my hobbies all day to customers, feeling like my work means something

      Cons

      Anti-union and union busting behavior coming from the top and from lawyers is disheartening and negatively impacts the working environment it’s easy not to make enough money to live here either through unreliable hours or the already low pay

      long list . lets just say REI is a shell of itself and the whole REI mantra is a charade. Top corporate has destroyed the companies heart and soul.

      The store manager there is a nightmare. I have never met someone who has failed upward so spectacularly as this man. He is, inappropriate, vindictive and has created a culture of fear in the store. Managers are not trained properly in coaching or HR policies. There are multiple OSHA violations all over the store. Employees are constantly stressed, crying, and fear being retaliated against for reporting issues of safety. You will never get pay that is commiserate with the cost of living/ if you do, know you will never have weekends off and your schedule revolves around retail sales.
