Pros

I have been at REI for almost two years. REI does a great job of recognizing employees who work hard and reward them with bonuses or company awards. Leadership is very encouraging when it comes to opportunities to advance my career and when it is applicable they are more than willing to pay for classes or trainings to enhance my skillset.

Cons

We are growing, so on occasion, you can be responsible for more than your initial job.

Pros

A great work environment with high standards. You end up working long hard hours, but the rewards are worth it. You often work across teams and are constantly learning on the job. The people are amazing and many of your coworkers become lifelong friends. There is a lot of flexibility for an employee to grow in any direction they personally want. Employees are highly encouraged to pursue new skills and roles. The company makes efforts to show how much they value their employees through awards, many company events, and most importantly, competitive salaries. The company also provides many volunteer and charity opportunities that allow employees to give back to the community.

Cons

Work-life balance is definitely tricky. Working long hours is to be expected. Some of the benefits could be better, such as subsidized gym memberships, in-house financial advisers, and better health insurance rates/plans.

Pros

- Competitive Compensation, with opportunities for bonuses (both annual and throughout the year). - Unlimited ability to grow and get promotions. REI loves to promote from within instead of looking outside the company, and they readily provide opportunities for advancement if you prove yourself. - Very flat management structure, resulting in less bureaucracy or needing to go through the "chain of command". Executives make themselves available and they love to connect directly with employees.

Cons

Workload can get high and sometimes extra hours are needed. Management is responsive however if these concerns are escalated up, and do their best to make sure burnout doesn't occur.
