Pros

Working at RETTEW has been one of the most rewarding career experiences for me. This company has supported me through highs and lows over the years. RETTEW values relationships and has a C-Team that, although sometimes misunderstood, genuinely cares about the staff and the company's success. The recent decision to return to the office Tuesday through Thursday has upset some employees, including myself. Initially, I was not happy about returning three days a week, but I can personally attest to RETTEW's commitment to flexibility and work-life balance. We are not monitored here, and I have the flexibility to fulfill personal commitments while still attending to my professional responsibilities. The large number of employees who have been here for more than a decade and those who return after leaving is a testament to the culture at RETTEW. Like all places of employment, it is not perfect—anyone touting 100% approval is not being honest—but it has been a wonderful place for me. RETTEW has provided me with the tools to succeed, grow, and thrive. I love my team! My manager is involved without micromanaging, and I have the autonomy and freedom to experiment and innovate in my position. I love it here.

Cons

Perception of management has suffered lately.

Management is hit or miss, can be controlling. Recently too much change in upper management, employee culture/benefits causing employee morale to dip.

Pros

It's a job with steady work most of the time. Benefits and pay are pretty standard, there is an ESOP which is cool. They have quarterly updates on how the company is doing which is extremely boring to listen to, but helpful to know. Otherwise this is now a pretty basic engineering company.

Cons

Until recently it felt like they really thought through the plans for the company, they have 1 year, 3 year and 5 year plans. But now they are switching from mostly remote work to a hybrid work model and it feels like it wasn't thought out very well. Moral is at an all time low, people have already left the company and others are looking for work elsewhere. We had some townhall meetings about this recently and the people who made this decision weren't even there to answer questions, instead they sent someone else to be the punching bag and he didn't have answers to most of the questions people asked. I saw the other comments people wrote on here and the company response that says: "Our decision to implement a structured hybrid schedule comes from a forward-looking strategy focused on ensuring the long-term health and success of our company. The objective is to cultivate a more collaborative and integrated environment. We believe that facilitating more frequent in-person engagement is essential for nurturing our culture, fostering spontaneous innovation, and supporting the professional growth and mentorship of our team members. This is an intentional step toward building a more connected and resilient future for RETTEW" That is just is just a word salad of corporate jargon that doesn't mean anything. They gave reasons in the townhall meeting as to why they are making this change, but they feel hollow and just like an excuse to justify their decision. It is like the return to office is a solution looking for a problem to solve. They haven't laid out practical steps as to how returning to the office is supposed to help. They are just hoping that it will work, that people won't leave the company and that we won't lose clients because we can't get their work done when we lose the people who were working on their projects. What is the real reason? Probably to be able to stand behind us plebs and crack the whip to make us work harder and faster and to give us the stink eye if they see us having a non-work related conversation.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We appreciate your recognition of the steady work, benefits, and transparency we aim to provide through our company updates. While our official communications may have sounded like "corporate jargon" to you, the meaning behind it is straightforward: After careful consideration, leadership (this includes the managers that led the Town Halls) determined working together in person is essential for solving complex problems, training newer employees, and maintaining a unified company culture. It is not a "solution looking for a problem." It is the solution to ensuring RETTEW remains competitive and successful for years to come. We’re confident a return to our intended way of operating will help RETTEW stay strong and competitive in the long run. We know this change has been difficult for some, and we’re sorry if the rollout didn’t meet expectations. We’re listening and learning from the feedback, and we’re committed to improving how we communicate and support our team through transitions like this. If you’d like to discuss the reasons behind this shift or share additional feedback, please contact HR; we'd be happy to discuss it in confidence.
