Growth opportunities, cool tech, knowledgeable teammates with a strong research background

Cons

New engineers are assigned more-tenured engineers to report to. There isn't an emphasis on holistic growth from them, since they're also trying to get their own jobs done. Senior management is from a research background and will scrutinize your work thoroughly. The general tone can seem harsh. Culture is pretty nonexistent, after-hours work is common, and there are often information silos with very little knowledge sharing between teammates.

Once a week free lunch. Lots of travel potential. Work on bleeding edge tech (if it works). Amazing work life balance.

Cons

CEO doesn’t care about reputation: in team meeting over voice chat, CEO demanded that my boss march up, unannounced, to the four-star general’s office (COCOM Commander), skip the secretary (do it now or else!) and check the status of the potential future contract.
