Pros

RLI is a wonderful place to work - great culture, fantastic benefits. It's large enough that there are a ton of professional opportunities along with competitive compensation and benefits, while small enough that you have a chance to actually get to know the senior leadership team. It's also a company that truly cares about its employees as people, and I think that's been further illustrated in its COVID-19 response. The support we've gotten from our executive leadership and HR has been fantastic and reminded me how proud I am to work at RLI. It feels like an extended family.

Freedom and trust to get the job done! Great benefits and bonus program! Adequate support staff and friendly team players. The company is active in keeping you informed and provides wellness activities.

Cons

Increased settlement and reserve authority would be a plus.

Pros

All the people have been great to work with and are sharing tons of knowledge. The best thing about working at RLI as an UW is you get to operate like you're a small business owner of your book. The systems are actually good, not old and antiquated like many insurance companies. The pay and benefits are competitive with lots of bonus & ESOP potential. This is the kind of company I could work for until I retire.

Cons

The local office is much smaller than what I'm used to which isn't entirely a negative, just different.
