- Sometimes work and process suffer from silos. There are so many divisions and someone is responsible for every little thing. It can take a while for things to work their way through a standard process.
- High performers are rewarded with more work. The company advocates for work-life balance, but it's still a struggle. It doesn't feel like the work load is equitable. Some people have way too many projects, while others do not. Poor performers seem to get away with their poor performance.
- Likewise, there are some bad managers who are allowed to stay bad managers. RTI doesn't seem to have training for managers, who your experience/relationship is entirely dependent on your manager. They also don't allow bottom-up feedback. You can provide official performance feedback to a superior only if they've asked it of you.
- It's challenging to move or try to work in other divisions. This seems dependent on the division, but some prefer to only look after their own and don't want to allow people from other divisions to work on their projects. RTI is trying to change that and allow people to 'gig' in other divisions, but that is a new initiative yet to roll out. Currently, it seems difficult to work or move outside of your division, unless you have a connection and that person really pushes for you.
