Pros

Surrounded by very professional and talented people, very few managers micromanage, technical challenges daily. Pay and benefits are pretty much competitive (if on the lower side of industry averages) so this keeps a lot of employees from leaving the company.

Cons

Overall a good company to work for, but if you want to advance you will need to search and apply for new jobs in the company since very few managers help you out in this regard. In the last year the company has had multiple layoffs causing a very stressful workplace. It was especially discouraging that some good employees were chosen to be laid off over others that appear to be part of the "good ol' boy network".

Pros

As a professional with substantial military and military-related experience, I took a job with Raytheon because they owned the particular billet I was interested in. Raytheon has a lot of military-related positions as a large defense contractor.

Cons

I have my two-week notice and ended my last job on the 19th of the month based on Raytheon's promise to have me start on the 20th. Due to incompetence, unnecessary single points of failure, and lack of concern, I did not start until the 23rd and lost approximately 40% of pay for a pay period. That was just onboarding. Since then Raytheon has treated the employees on this contract poorly including reducing senior employees pay to lower than that of newer employees and mishandling what ended up being an unnecessary furlough. Promises to compensate said mishandling where never followed up on.

Pros

The salary is very good as are the benefits. When given the opportunity to grow and develop as an employee, the options are there, but only to a point. Very smart workforce, at least in Engineering, but most of the support areas there is a lot of nepotism, EEO promotions, and good old boy networks.

Cons

The management is out of touch. They don't relate to the work force, as many of them are only looking out for themselves or are very frightened when people under them do well, or are better respected then they are. HR is useless. They try to get you to work for Raytheon then abandon you as an employee. Many long term employees get laid off or fired for little or no reason. The Peter Principle is alive and well at Raytheon!
