Pros

The work-life balance, as well as the casual atmosphere. The company offers "9-80" work schedules, where you work 9 hours a day for 9 days & take every other friday off. Add to that three weeks vacation, plus the campus shuts down over the Christmas holiday & and you're already off more than employees at most companies. Dress is pretty casual, and most folks work on some pretty interesting technologies. Raytheon's been this way for some time, as there are tons of employees with 15, 20, or 25 year pins.

Cons

Salaries are a bit lower than what you might find elsewhere, but there is a lot of stability.

Pros

Raytheon is a good place to get your career started fresh out of college. If you are fortunate enough to work under a good manager they usually allow you to work a flexible schedule and also provide you with support when you need to deal with corporate.

Cons

Too much red tape! Getting simple tasks done usually requires lots of paperwork. Lots of politics involved, money doesn't get pumped into our section. This causes management to get penny pinch which translates to no bonuses at the end of the year. We have not had a traditional Christmas party in 2 years!

Pros

There are many opportunities across various functions and product lines. Raytheon being a part of many different adjacent markets allows exposure to many industries. Work life balance is a high priority as flex time makes the work schedule very manageable. There are a number of bright employees here, however limited by the corporate culture that management employs. It is a solid company with growing opportunities in many fields.

Cons

Once you show strengths in one area, they won't let you go. Career growth is limited by management's definition of grooming an employee
