Pros

The benefits package offered is by far one of the best in the city. Most employees are fairly compensated for the job they perform, particularly those employees just out of college. In most areas/departments, there is a sense of pride and teaming atmosphere. No doubt a result of the "close knit, family working conditions."

Cons

There is definately a "glass ceiling" of sorts and a "good ole boy" mentality, particularly in organizations with a high percentage of middle aged white males. Some of the newer employees spend more time kissing up to leadership then they do meeting work committments. Unfortunately, those are the same individuals that rank high during performance appraisal time, and receive the larger raises. Upward mobility is stifiled.

Pros

Raytheon is the place to be employed if you're fresh out of college, looking for flexible hours, want great benefits, and if you're looking for the option to work from home. Many employees are completely remote and never see their management at all. It's not uncommon for these remote working employees to live hundreds of miles away from their group and to have very little or no interaction with their team members. I've seen where some remote employees are never talked about as far as their work. To summarize, the reasons to work for Raytheon are the following: great place to start a career when you're fresh out of college, flexible hours, and great benefits.

Cons

Entirely too much management. For example, it's common for one engineer to have 3 manager-types providing input to their project (i.e. 3 manager-types directing 1 engineer). Also, there is entirely too much process bloat. Needless documentation and needless reviews are common place. Additionally, there is absolutely no sense of community or team-work. The Garland location: It's extremely drab and depressing. The office space is lighting is very poor, the wall/cube colors are dark gray, and the Garland campus is spread out. As a result of the campus being spread out, it's not uncommon to be in the dark as to what others are working on or how you fit into the picture. However, the depressing and spread out Garland campus is absolutely nothing to gripe about when compared to two main Raytheon problems: entirely too much management and too many pointless processes.
