Pros

Great people, fun travel, interesting and rewarding work. Great place for recent grads or for those in their second wind after having kids or to get off the road and have a more easy and comfortable sales job.

Cons

Flat structure, meaning there is no middle management. You have your directors and VPs, and then your sales reps. No opportunity for promotion and growth unless you stay at the company for years and years. Also the pay is below market. Average base and average to low commission.

Pros

You get great experience in the events, industry, you will travel to shows, great people.

Cons

Company culture has become hostile, company seems to be forcing out any legacy staff in exchange for younger labor. Most of the long term people who were positive personalities have left due to the cultural shift.

Thank you for sharing your thought and concerns. If we may clarify, Reed Exhibitions places a high value on our long term employees for their level of commitment and expertise that has been developed through the years. We work to create a culture of diversity and do not discriminate against or target employees based on age, gender, race or any other protected characteristics. As the organization changes over time, a reorganization of the workforce or a change of roles may cause some positions to change or be eliminated. In the event that this happens, we make it a priority to find other suitable roles within the company for the affected employee whenever possible. Our culture is still one of caring and respect for our employees. If you would like to continue the conversation, we would welcome the opportunity to open the lines of communication. Please feel free to email us at feedback@reedexpo.com.

Pros

Working here has given me the chance to learn how to work with difficult people and overcome impossible tasks assigned to me. I would suggest working here if you're in the mood to go through corporate boot camp. I know that when I leave it will make me thankful to be basically anywhere else except Reed. The people I work with are wonderful, they are smart and always willing to go above and beyond. Summer Fridays are nice, that's a plus. Aside from the mind game we play every year that consists of dangling the Summer Fridays in our face. We also just got the OK to wear jeans everyday aside from just Fridays.

Cons

Most of management is completely incompetent. Most of them have no formal training in management (or business for that matter), and many of them only have their Bachelor's degrees. There are not many people in management with advanced degrees. I don't quite know how they function even though I have been here for what I deem is quite sometime. There is a disregard for standard business practices. There is the 1980's - 1990's corporate feel here, for example, if you are important you get a better office. The pay is really much less than other event companies in the area, which is too bad given that RX was the largest event company in the world up until last year. There's also a large focus on buzzwords, and not much action to go along with them. This is sad because there are so many smart people who can do some really great things if they are given the chance. Work/life balance really depends on the role, for me the constant feeling of being displeased and complaints to my spouse really make work/life balance a con. Promotions are rare and from transparent discussions with coworkers we all seem to agree that raises average around 2%, which I would deem low. I wouldn't recommend RX as an establishment for employment.
