Pros

Over the years Rackspace gave me many opportunities to develop my career. I worked with great people, we worked hard but had a lot of fun too. I will always be grateful for my time there as it taught me a lot.

Cons

Sadly in the last couple of years the culture has been eroded. We worked harder than ever, but it was a thankless task. Leadership became toxic, less diverse and all about money...forget about the people. Middle management have tried their hardest to retain what was good...but have been on a losing battle for the last 12 months. It is a different company now, entirely. The cost cutting has gone too far this time.

Pros

Seems fun at first and full of possibilities

Cons

Change is one thing... but pretending to be so rah-rah and tricking people is disgusting.

Pros

Decent benefits, generous PTO, great co workers at the individual contributor level, good place for someone to start their career and leave after a couple of years. The organization has done a good job taking care of employees throughout the pandemic, encouraging wellness days and bringing in extra resources to help employees with their mental health. They have also done a good job keeping training available through virtual options versus in person. After a good run, the hypocrisy got to me and I had to go. I'm grateful that I was there when it was a wonderful place to work and I am grateful for the friends I made along the way. Rackers really are wonderful humans.

Cons

-Monthly rah rah All Hands meetings where employees are told of Record Breaking results followed by layoffs, offshoring, program cuts, etc. with no explanation from leadership -Massive golden parachute payouts to executives who stay for less than a year-revolving door for Sr. Leadership -Institutionalized micromanagement through Kevin Jones' "management system" of meetings and activities which eat up hours upon hours of people's time preparing power point decks that often aren't covered in their entirety in a given meeting. -There is no longer an appetite from senior leadership for creative problem solving-manager and director are expected to implement and execute; not think and collaborate -Constant reorganization with a focus on immediate results rather than allowing changes to make an impact in a reasonable amount of time -HR is way too involved in decision making for business leaders to the point of telling business leaders how to manage their business. Not following HR guidance can be a death sentence when it comes to future promotions, raises, etc. unless you have a strong leader who will stand up to them (there are a couple of awesome HR people who are very helpful but it's not the norm and the really awful ones seem to stay and get promoted into higher levels of influence).
