Pros

Rackspace is a unique and challenging place to work. Environment is flexible and allows you to try new things. Have not had much layoffs given the current economy. If you are looking for executive level positions you should get exactly the compensation and golden parachute you are looking for.

Cons

Every year the benefits get worse and cost more. Bonus structure metrics are changing all the time so that bonus payouts to regular employees can be decreased and have no real correlation to performance as an employee. Cost of living raises are frozen until further notice. All this while executive leadership makes millions on stock options and grants. Friends and Family company values are a joke these days. Most of the talented technical staff has long since moved on to other companies. Training and advancement departments are useless.

Pros

Great place to work and be yourself. There are extremely technical people that work here and can support our customers very well. The company bends over backwards to make sure our customers are happy. The core values are not just a slogan, we actually try to follow them on a daily basis.

Cons

The direction from middle management is foggy. There is very much an "us vs them" mentality in many areas of the company. The company is trying to grow into an enterprise company, yet it allows a large number of people with little to no enterprise experience drive the service offerings internally and to customers.

Pros

EXCELLENT culture. People get along, for the most part, and that contributes to Rackspace's success. Rackspace IS, plain and simple, a customer-oriented company...and it will do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. Though a good work-ethic is required to do well, Rackspace offers a very laid back atmosphere where you aren't hovered over while doing your job. (As I said, whether this is a pro or con really depends on your self-discipline in work ethic)

Cons

Terrible management organization. There are countless numbers of VPs...and lower-level managers generally have 3-4 people they report to. This company is entirely bloated (as opposed to flat) and not quite big enough to require such a structure. Ultimately this means that getting anything big done is next to impossible. Some level of bureaucracy is to be expected in any company....but the amount that exists at Rackspace can, at times, make your job to impossible at times.
