Pros

I don't usually write Glassdoor reviews but when I saw the bad reviews for Raft I had to sign-up and submit my review. Absolutely do not agree with the other reviews. Raft instils the family culture of working with like minded folks who are focused on making digital products work better for all people by ensuring they are inclusive. The management takes extra care to listen and pay attention to the staff. The best part is that the management is accessible to everyone and there is no hierarchy. The flat structure has always helped me by making my voice be heard directly by the upper management. Additionally, when I've been sick and out of the office for several days I have received care packages with hand written notes from the CEO. When we had our first kid, I also received a hand written note from the CEO. Raft is a place where every employee takes self ownership to perform their tasks. The best part of working with the CEO is the inspiration she provides to the people around her and the conscious decision she makes to be a hands-on CEO and be involved in product deliverables. I guess if you like to be told what to do and do not have high expectations for your own work, Raft isn't the best place for you. But if you care for your craft, want to come into work everyday to learn something new, be challenged, and work on products that are truly making a difference in the government then Raft will be a perfect fit. Me and my team have been given the liberty and time off to go work on things that interest us the most. This has helped me not get bored by my project work but actually be learning new skills and researching how they might be helpful to the team and the projects I work on. Just go look at their blog pages.

Cons

There are none other than that there aren't other companies like Raft.

Pros

Full Disclosure: The company directly asked all of us to review them on Glassdoor after working for awhile. The company definitely is determined to find out all info good and bad about the company which I believe helps them. My coworkers all seem happy.

Cons

I don't necessarily know if raft can maintain it's quality of employee experience as it grows as quickly as it does.

Pros

* Pay is very competitive for digital consulting + Northern Virginia area * Benefits are very comprehensive and 100% paid for * Fully remote if that's your thing for most positions * They hire a lot of really smart folks, tons of people who are SMEs at what they do * They do try to value engineering first * Generally great work-life balance (depends on contract but my experience was good)

Cons

* Can feel like you're in a silo depending on your contract, can be hard to feel like Raft employee vs. a member of whichever customer you're with * Advancement path is still in flux, new system in place rolled out this year

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your experience at Raft. We appreciate your positive remarks about the intelligence of our team members, competitive pay, and the overall cool environment. We understand your concerns about potentially feeling like you're in a silo depending on the program you're working on. We continuously strive to enhance the sense of being a Rafter regardless of the customer you're working with, and we appreciate your insights on this matter. Your advice to provide more opportunities to meet Rafters across the country is valuable. We understand the importance of building company culture and connections, and we will explore ways to facilitate more interactions among Rafters, even if they are working on different programs. Your suggestion about a company-wide on-site event is duly noted. Thank you for your contributions during your time with us, and we appreciate your honest feedback. We will consider your suggestions as we strive to make Raft an even better place to work.
