Pros

The pay is great, much better than any other company for Engineering work. Working in the South West is great. Sunshine! Professional attitude amoung co-workers. International experience.

Cons

The Benefits are mid level at best. Workload distribution is not even close to correct. No company cell phones, even for traveling workers. Multiple business units that do not know what the others are doing from a design or engineering point of view. Sometimes unrealistic objectives that are not in your control.

Pros

Good money, good name on product helps sell in market place. Good benefits and take care of your expense needs to work your market. I get a fair amount of freedom to run my territory as I see fit. As long as I hit my numbers they leave me alone and don't care how I get there.

Cons

Unrealistic expectations. Out of touch with customer and markets. Degree snobs. Know nothing about building relationships nor do they care to. Engineering driven company that thinks the name on the box sells the product. Very political, have to be careful what you say. Even if you are right and say it the right way it could be career suicide.

Pros

The compensation is comparable or even better than most companies. The benefits package is nothing too extraordinary but is reasonable. If you are currently in school or are looking to go back they have a program in which you get a certain amount of money each semester, however, if you quit working for Rain Bird within a certain amount of time you are responsible to pay them back. Supposedly Rain Bird is a great place to grow as an employee and they say there is always potential to move up within the company, but this doesn't really seem to be true.

Cons

Rain Bird is very selective and have very high standards for their employees, yet it seems as though just about anyone could get a job as a manager here. It also seems as though there are WAY more managers than there need to be for the amount of employees in each division. This makes work difficult when there are ten managers involved in every decision. Managers also are not very good at giving praise for good work, but have no problem with recognizing when an employee makes a mistake and making a big deal about negative or bad things instead of giving constructive criticism they just tell you that you did a bad job and they expect much more of you than that.
