Pros

There are lots of opportunities for advancement either within your present Business Unit, or across company divisions. You are surrounded by a mostly talented group of employees; those that can't keep up with the pace stand out quickly; that's just fine with the majority of us. Opportunity to demonstrate leadership, responsibility and a get-it-done attitude almost always results in new experiences. Many believe that Rain Bird builds the best products in the irrigation business, bar none.

Cons

Management and co-workers can really stack on the work. This is not a nine to five experience and you really have to work smart to find the right work/life balance.

Pros

Rain Bird is an eclectic place with a very high proportion of talented individuals and very strong management. Many of the negative feedback on this site is unjustified, and mostly driven by former employees that did not fit into a private company culture or were unable to keep up with a very demanding set of challenges. Rain Bird Sr. Leadership is highly competent, and many of the people in high level positions have grown through the ranks or have already had stellar career paths in other industries, therefore providing a solid and grounded management style. There is much to learn from experienced managers and the owner's success story of leading a small regional company to being an undisputed world leader is an inspiration in and by itself. Employees who can live up to the organization's objectives are either quickly promoted within the company or get ever more challenging assignments (and commensurate, very competitive salary increases). Rain Bird values performance, and therefore lays off poor performers quickly. Hence the incidence of negative comments on this board. But even poor performers benefit from Rain Bird's good reputation and usually end up landing much bigger jobs elsewhere.

Cons

Rain Bird is a privately held company, and a very successful one. It boasts a culture that is much different from what would be encountered in publicly traded organizations. Rain Bird values a real bias for action and independent thinking. Many of the employees that are hired can't come to grips with the environment, leading to much bigger churn than you would see elsewhere. Getting into Rain Bird is like training for an elite corps: only the best survive. You might be a star performer at your current company and find out you are struggling at Rain Bird, which can be tough on one's self-confidence.

Pros

They pay great and are pretty flexible with time but thats about it. My supervisor was shady but my immediate co-workers are great people to work with.

Cons

This Website is great . . . I can definitely agree with all of these negative postings. This place sucks. Very high turnaround these people are not kidding. My supervisor was very shady. I had a retalitory type of supervisor and whom I would catch lying all the time and we would catch them using fake training/business trips for their personal vacations. The first time I used any personal time I got a verbal warning. There are a few cool people but a lot of arrogant/pompous attitudes. The place is like a ghost town now though. Very quiet, except for the annoying marketing manager that sits up front along the walk of fame that laughs out loud every five minutes for the entire office to hear. HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA every five minutes I swear it is extremely annoying.
