Pros

Professional and respectful environment. Goals and expectations are clearly articulated. Most of the people are decent to work and hang out with. Good short term employment but not a lot of long term opportunity. Opportunity to learn and apply skills but the company seems to go through a lot of employees very quickly. This company had a reputation for taking care of it'e employees by creating a "family" atmoshphere. This does not seem to apply in the current work environment. The expectations are high but the loyalty of the company to the employee seems fleeeting. I still recommend this company. Especially if you are in the early stages of your career- for learning opportunities.

Cons

Poor job security; good short term employment but not a lot of long term opportunity.

Pros

The benefits were good and the pay is competitive. Rain Bird has high standards and you either sink or swim there. If you stay afloat, you will learn a lot. I learned a lot working with the company, the experience gained there will help in other opportunities that I pursue.

Cons

Upper management, for the most part, is incompetent. Decisions are made based on what is needed to put out the fires with no plan for long-term solutions. Lack of communication and decisions made by management will be the downfall of the company. There is no sense of security, if you are hired on by this company, your job will most definitely be moved down to Mexico within two years as soon as you have perfected a system that you can easily train someone else on. Years of service, contributions, and dedication to the company have no bearing on your ultimate fate, they will toss you out without so much as a "thanks for all your effort, but it's just not good enough." In the few years that I worked there, I watched every person that I worked with, including some with more than 30 years with the company, lose their jobs due to "relocation".

Pros

The pay is competitive among other employers in the area.

Cons

Do not count on staying there too long. Any ambituous worker who doesn't fit Senior Management's mold of what they want will quickly (1~2 years) find themselves going nowhere or fired if they realize that the worker will not leave on their own accord.
