Pros

Very easy way to get into the Irrigation/Green industry. Great people.

Cons

Very little stability with in the company. Product quality can be up & down and the factory won't often back up their work. Layoffs are an often occurance - there are cycles of heavy hiring and then heavy layoffs. Before a layoff, many employees are "run out"; their lives are made so miserable at work so they quit before RB can lay them off. No severance package then. Turnover in field sales is about every 2yrs, same with inside marketing group. This makes for a very jumbled perception from the outside. Everyone within the irrigation industry knows someone who "used to" work for RB... they can't hire anyone with experience from within the industry so they always reach outside into other industries for capable sales, marketing & engineering.

Pros

Rain Bird does offer competitive base pay. Oh, and a gift certificate for a free turkey at Christmas time...

Cons

There is very little concern for the overall employee experience. Ridiculous management structure and philosophy.

Pros

The company is full of over achievers and highly talented people. When the teams are focused, great things can happen. Rain Bird's salalries are fair. The products have excellent quality and the brand is very well known and respected. My direct Manager is excellent. The collective IQ of the individuals of the company is very high. You are given the tools to do your job and Rain Bird stands behind their products.

Cons

Lack of a leadership plagues the corporation. Too many directions and too many priorities. One firedrill after another. Many of the policies and programs are very outdated. Lack of a CRM tool, a knowledge management program and an insane travel policy are a few examples. More time at Rain Bird is spent managing your career than managing the customer. The employee ranking and management program is outdated, counter productive and not factual based.
