Pros

If Tony will approve of you being hired, they will pay you whatever they need to in order to get you on board. So many people turn down offers, that they rely on money to lure good people. So, pay is not bad.

Cons

I really can't say anything that hasn't been said on this site, or ones like it, many times before. But in case you need to hear it again: STAY AWAY! STAY FAR AWAY! This place is awful with really very little to make the freak show worth it. Honestly, if you have a soul or even one ounce of business sense, this place will be detrimental to your physical well-being if you work here. Tony, the president, just won't let anything that is positive and good for the company stay around for long. Good customer service department? Eviscerate it. Good people? Fire them. Good products? Discontinue them. Good marketing? Cut it. Customers? Tony HATES them, but not as much as he hates employees and vendors. If you are hired as a manager of any kind, don't expect to be able to make even the smallest decision. If you enjoy seeing a business fail in real-time, you might like it here.

Pros

Good hard working people. Polite people even when overstressed. Nice weather, spacious parking lot, recently remodeled buildings. Modern computers and software. Decent office spaces but old furnishings. Some very good low ranking managers. Some opportunity to move up in the company but only one or two levels.

Cons

Very low budgets and short deadlines. Layoffs monthly or people quit. New employees are not hired to replace those that left. Instead you are forced to do their work but don't get more pay. Every job is being outsourced or moved to Mexico. Promotions are not based on merit. Favoritism and politics get you to the top. Senior Management Staff is completely disconnected from reality. Senior Staff treat employees like numbers, not people. Most of the knowledgeable and experienced managers have left Rain Bird. Left behind are inexperienced rookies following orders given by the inept Sr staff and upper management. The rookies take the fall for the failures of upper management and are demoted, put on corrective action, fired, or forced to quit. Periodically employees are required to write a one page document listing reasons they should not be part of the next round of layoffs."justify your existence at rain bird". Avoid this place unless you really need the money. You can do a lot better

Pros

They hire smart people who then leave or are forced out for having an opinion

Cons

Terrible Leadership. Mafia-like culture. Nothing they say in their vision statement is true. Directors and up all kiss the ring and some of the words they speak border in insanity. They routinely run good people off. If you disagree, point out some of ridiculous policies, or have a sense of urgency Rain Bird will get rid of you.

Rain Bird Response

Thank you for your three years at Rain Bird. And, thank you for recognizing that we hire really smart people! Despite what you say, these smart people do stay with Rain Bird %E2%80%93 in fact we have a retention rate far above industry norms. And, we are smart enough to let our employees have a large degree of autonomy in how they meet their goals. Most of our employees thrive in this environment, but others cannot make the adjustment. We wish you the very best in your new direction.
