Pros

The caliber of talent and skill of the employees here is matched by none. Rain Bird truly hires the best. Locations of facilities are beautiful.

Cons

Believe it all. The culture is a train wreck. The senior leaders seek no dis-confirming perspective and are therefore, stuck in a naive incestuous echo chamber. They truly believe they know the industry better than any other, that they know business process and quality production better than any other, and refuse to pay any real or honest respect to outside counsel. There is no reward for trying to improve in any respect. Put in the long hours due to the lack of resources and you'll only be reprimanded when the impossible is not achieved. The story is an overwhelming blame game here. The leaders emulate it. They teach it. They live it. Certainly had hoped that after all these years they could have improved, sadly I am disappointed. Stay clear of this train wreck. The only ones who stay here grew up in the company or are stuck and cannot figure out how to leave. They just don't know any better, but working down the street at a taco stand would be an improvement in every respect but the pay.

Corrosive Corporate Culture

Pros

A good product line and a lot of really good people.

Cons

This company has some of the worst managers you could ever imagine and when things get at their worst during a pandemic...they are all still standing. Owner and managers protect their friends and leave the people who do the real work hanging out to dry. As is their trend, once things ease up, they will begin to try to rebuild what they just destroyed. I know things are tough and any job looks good. My advice is if you accept a role with Rain Bird, particularly in Tucson, do not consider this the end of your search. Keep looking because you will want out of the saddest most pathetic workplace you have ever experienced. PROCEED WITH CAUTION!

Pros

Good salary and decent medical benefits

Cons

There are too many cons to completely list here, but to start: 1. Rain Bird management philosophies are stuck in the 1970s. They claim they are an innovative, forward looking company, but when an employee has ideas, they are shot down immediately if they do not come from management. It is always "their way or the highway". This leads to major project delays and even project cancellations. 2. The vacation policy is non-negotiable, and archaic. If you have more than 10-15 years experience, do not expect to negotiate more than the standard 2 weeks vacation that a recent high-school or college graduate will receive. 3. While there may be some good managers, my experience was with a manager who not only had sexist hiring practices, but also made promises in the interview and hiring process that were rescinded after the first day of work. These promises not only included position and project responsibilities, but also college tuition reimbursement.
