There are a lot perks and great people that work here. It's also a good place to work from a career advancement standpoint. They tend to hire within which is nice.

Pros

Kobo can be a fun workplace at times, and there is plenty of opportunity to learn and grow. There is an incredible amount of talent to be found in all aspects of the work force.

Cons

Management is often ineffective and inexperienced. Poor decisions are made more often than not and some will not stand up for the team when things go sideways.

Pros

- The People: Over the course of my employment at Kobo, I have worked with extremely passionate and hard working individuals. These qualities help turn work relationships into friendships. - Opportunities for Advancement: Kobo tends to promote from within and hard work is normally noticed by managers and senior leaders. - Ability to make decisions/contribute to change: Since Kobo is not a large corporate environment, individuals have the ability to influence important decisions and see projects to fruition in a short period of time.

Cons

- Demanding work environment: Although I thrived in this type of workplace, it can be overwhelming for employees that are used to a slower paced job. - Cultural Integration from Japanese Headquarters: Rakuten (Kobo's parent company) has not done the best job to come to a middle ground to transition Kobo's initial start-up culture to a mature company. The Japanese business culture will not be successful in the type of North American workplace Kobo is used to.
