Pros

Very good benefits package. 401K + matching funds. Full medical, dental, vision, etc. and the company picks up most of the tab Job security... If you can tolerate the deplorable working conditions the compensation is somewhat above par.

Cons

Nepotism is a problem. Management communication is superficial and sporadic. Leadership places very little value on professional development or leadership training for middle managers, which creates a great deal of frustration. It may seem superficial, but several highly influential managers are particularly rude and profoundly disrespectful of employees. Some managers have had 6 or more greivences filed against them with no action taken. The work environment is stifling. 6 foot tall cubicles prevent communication and help enhance the culture of isolation and secret keeping Weekly hours for middle managers routinely end up in the 50+ range, and work life balance as a concept is basically non existent

Pros

Very good exposure to drug discovery and development apart from huge volume of generic drugs. The drug discovery and development process is very well organized with Disovery working groups (DWG) and Project working groups (PWG). Each department can nominate few members to each of the DWG & PWGs. The focus is clear, unlike some other pharma companies in India. They have a review meeting once in 6 months to review the progress of each molecule. Ideal for research work too as the company spends money to get quality work done.

Cons

Management has to be more transparent and information should percolate down to all the members of the team. And the balance between personal and professional life does not exist at all. There are also much more effective ways to get things done rather than bullying and threatening employees. And stop networking and investigating where people move. Keep them happy while they are with you and people will never think of moving out. Favouritism is also a big headache.
