Pros

-The company itself is strong, has some good history and is well known in the market. -Internal process is fairly straight forward, easy to learn, easy to get going.

Cons

-Micromanage you to death. You will be monitored every second of every day for everything you do. -Terrible managers. Lots of young managers who don't understand employee engagement, motivation, or sales. -Low compensation. They are not even close to paying what others do in the industry. I found this out first hand once I began to interview elsewhere. -Benefits are horrible. Their benefits package is terrible, costs you a ton of money if you have a family. -No work-life balance, they want you there 12 hours a day and will criticize you and discourage you from taking vacation or sick time, even if you've earned it.. -No method of promotion - you would have to have the stars align and someone quit or leave to get a promotion.

Pros

You are able to learn very quickly because you are thrown in to a job where internally they are understaffed. Although you get burned out quickly you learn every aspect of the job from the perspective of recruiting, sales, customer service, management, payroll, etc. You literally learn every part of how a staffing office runs because you and about 3-6 others are the only ones running a branch.

Cons

NO COMMISSION! There are no incentives to work 50 hours a week and rarely take lunches because all you receive is a low base salary and no commission which is unheard of in the industry. The only motivation you have is working hard so you dont get in trouble by your branch manager or regional director. They claim that quality is most important, but really on a day to day basis, it is all about putting people in jobs as quickly as possible to make money. The median age in the Philadelphia market has to be 26 yo because of the high turn over rate. When I worked there the entire district turned over interally almost 100%

Pros

Young work environment, fast-paced, good location; company has positive reputation

Cons

I wanted to leave my last role quickly and unfortunately did not mindfully make the right decision - I chose Randstad because it was the first place to give me an offer, an out. I saw a few people leave within my first 2 weeks (a REALLY bad sign). They try to convince you that it is the "way of the business 80% turnover etc." and hide the truths about the office politics and the reasons behind people's leave. Randstad views its employees as dispensable and cogs in the machine. Any outside idea or vision is immediately shut down. If you are not a cookie cutter corporate employee, this is not the place for you. I was publicly embarrassed by my boss on numerous occasions in front of fellow employees for speaking up, and he gossiped about my peers to other peers - a very unprofessional and negative and unhealthy work environment. I did very well placement-wise (I'm avoiding metrics to protect my identity), but the company takes 94% of your earnings leaving you with 6% of each deal, and then from there another percentage is taken out. They make you work harder with little acknowledgement of your success, with a heavier focus on the negative. The second you speak up on the atrocities happening around you, you are shunned and they try to find a way to make you feel even more isolated. I did not want to grow in the direction that I felt I was there, my colleagues were self-centered and would throw others under the bus whenever they had a chance, and the pay was astronomically low for the amount of work put in. I learned the transactional side of the business, and it was not lucrative. I caution anyone who is genuine and interested in success to avoid Randstad like the plague!
