Pros

Stress Anxiety Management that call themselves leaders and use monthly meetings to pat themsevles on the back Yes these are the pros You will find the folks who have the most positive outlook on this organization will be in Management, Finance, Marketing or Sales. Possibly the software development team as well. For us who have to deal with the customers, it is another story.

Cons

This organization is misled, there is no clear direction, there is a very big culture of blame and a 'do as I say not as I do' mentality. There are too few folks doing the work, and too many managing or selling. The folks who are implementing and supporting the customers are stretched thin, unhappy, stressed out and are starting to leave.

Pros

Management is rarely around due to extraneous travel Corporate Office provides snacks and hosts Friday Lunch Corporate Office is in a great location and has a gym on the first floor

Cons

RapidScale lacks qualified people in C-Level management positions to function properly and prosper as a business. The corporate office environment is often hostile, draining, and mundane all at the same time. There are few individuals who work at the corporate location who sincerely enjoy working at this company...most people bond over the shared disdain for daily work responsibilities and micromanagement. Expect that your attendance will be tracked to the minute - you will be questioned and lectured if you come in at 8 and leave at 5. All salaried positions are expected to work "overtime" without proper compensation. Very poor work/life balance, especially in respect to family issues and child care. Working remotely is a bit easier because of poor management skills, and often times remote sales positions are not held to the same standards as other positions in the company. If you are remote, expect that you will be traveling - A LOT - at least once a week for multiple days at a time. If you come from a corporate environment, you will quickly find that there are few valuable resources for you to succeed. No 401k match, terrible benefits and benefit management, no HR department to handle internal issues and new hire procedures to list a few. The handbook looks like something that was printed offline or taken from another company and not tailored to the RapidScale specifically - which will make you feel uneasy almost immediately. Take extreme caution when accepting a position at this company. Turnover is high, and you are at the mercy of your manager, and how they may be feeling that day. Little to no positive or negative feedback on your performance, and you will have to chase down any bonus or commission that was promised to you. As an older male working for this company, I really felt bad for the young adults and women working here. They were treated poorly and were rarely given opportunities beyond administrative work. Their compensation is inadequate in comparison to that of their male counterparts. Beware of the "positive" reviews on this site - employees are compensated for positive reviews, and many are written by upper management in an attempt to cover up any "negative" review that may be posted.

Thank you for your feedback. We're truly sorry that you didn’t have the experience you wanted to have at RapidScale. We take this very seriously. RapidScale was once a startup company that grew quickly, thanks to the hard-working colleagues that you most likely were. As of August 2018, RapidScale is owned by Cox Enterprises, a $20B family-owned company that has won numerous employee satisfaction awards, in addition to the “Best Work Environments” award RapidScale won in 2017. Since the acquisition, we’ve added numerous additional benefits for our employees that can only come with the size of a $20B company, including unrivaled healthcare coverage, 401k matching, unlimited PTO, and much more. In addition, our senior management team has grown and changed immensely since this feedback was provided, and we’ve added many seasoned C-level business leaders who today help run the business. We are still entrepreneurial, operating inside of the Cox ecosystem, but no longer function in that ever-changing startup mode that many thrive in, but that may not have been the right fit for you. While we work hard to pay the best employees the best salaries, our non-exempt employees do sometimes work overtime and are paid for it. This is communicated upfront during hiring. Most of our hourly employees look forward to working overtime. That being said, this is a fast-paced, accountability-based work environment designed for top performers and that will hopefully always be ingrained in our culture. Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns. We meet weekly to improve the culture here and are always looking to get better. Your feedback has been invaluable in making us a better company.

Pros

Coworkers are great, even though we are all frustrated and not heard at the executive level (as demonstrated by the recent pattern of bad reviews). I would give culture a higher score but I truly have no clue what the company's values are. I have worked for companies way, way larger and been far more connected to the ethos and C Level than here. Same Is true for smaller companies.

Cons

I think the recent bad reviews represent employees frustration with mandates and strategic decisions that seem to have not taken into account the actual work of employees or needs of customers. Some recent decisions even contradict each other. Some have been executed, involving lay offs with no clear plan or communication for coverage leaving employees set up for failure.

Thank you for opening up about these issues. We appreciate your honesty. Our culture is one of the things people love most about working at Cox. We're surprised and saddened to hear that your experience doesn't reflect that. Organizational changes can be challenging and stressful. We want you to know that we care about our employees and aim to support our people through any transition. We will share this information with the leadership team, but we also encourage you to discuss your specific concerns with your manager and/or a trusted mentor so that we can work toward improving your experience as soon as possible. We appreciate your contributions to Cox and your efforts to help us improve in every way possible.
