Best Software Team in the Albany Area

Pros

There is a perfect balance of fun and work at Rational. Everyone on the Development Team is valued for their opinions and work together toward a common goal of making our software better. The senior team is always willing to help out some of the younger guys and the team is always looking for ways to improve. I have worked on a few development teams in the are and working at Rational has been the best team I have been on so far. It seem that Rational has got a bad rap, due to a few bad eggs that were let go (mostly from the Client Management and Project Management groups).

Cons

Some of the benefits could be a little better and the office could use a little bit of a makeover but overall not many cons.

Pros

- Management is good at limiting meetings so devs can actually do development work. - Everyone is willing to listen to new ideas and implement them if they are good. - Leadership opportunities are readily available if you are willing. - Really laid back environment and great work atmosphere

Cons

Nothing to complain about honestly. I guess it would be nice to have offices instead of cubicles but that isn't really important.

Pros

Rational has a small software team (under 10 developers). This creates a good environment where developers aren't micromanaged and are allowed to do a good job. Management is open to suggestions for improvements and is always looking for ways they can improve. Previous management has been poor but things are improving greatly and Rational is turning into a great place to work

Cons

If you aren't used to a saas software model, Rational might not be for you. Due to business , sometimes requirements change but things are getting better.
