The company is created , run by, and serves lawyers - as a result, the people are treated like disposables (as a lot of law firms have the tendency to do). You will see people fired and walked out the door out of the blue without any concern for the individual
There is constant intrigue, drama, and strife even among the established figures in the company. The 'little guys' are just peons that are just used for a while, then disposed of.
The technology is mostly crap - a legacy web app, and a boat-load of stored procedures
You're constantly under the gun for hard deadlines from customers. Add the crappy software on top that breaks any time it pleases, and you're on call 24/7
Although there is a "dev & test" team in HQ, the real software development happens offshore, and the "dev & test" team are there just for support and maintenance of the legacy system. You will hear "we're growing the team", but it never happens.
