Pros

Stable employment across all market cycles in the majority of the firms departments. Work life balance is relatively strong although getting worse. Tom James built a great conservative foundation that should be able to survive long term. Stock has been strong to own.

Cons

Some truly awful senior executives who don't understand their business units in positions of power simply because they were once assistants to the chairman. Low compensation relative to competitors and the attitude they everyone can be replaced by someone who costs less, regardless of talent. We've lost good employees rather than make small compensation improvements. HR doesn't get replacements that are as cable as we always look for the cheapest option. Ethics seems to be becoming less not more important here. Very hard to move from VP to SVP without leaving the firm at some point. Loyalty not rewarded the way it use to be under TJ.
