Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Sometimes your team can also be decent.

Cons

There's no end to the cons if you take pride in your work as an engineer and you work hard. People will take advantage of you. They will pass you up for promotions and other growth opportunities just to keep you in the same position because they need you. Turn over is ridiculous. You will not be valued. The goal posts for being recognized for your worth will be continually moved and excuses will be drafted as to why. There's definitely an "old boys club" mentality that thrives at RMD in particular. The sexism is just thinly veiled enough that you couldn't make a claim and have it recognized as legitimate. For as much as they talk about how great the culture is, they have no evidence to support it. The culture you end up in is ENTIRELY dependent on your team and its management. Flip a coin to figure out if you'll hate it or not. I really could go on forever. The 1 star reviews are true - beware.

Pros

Off-Fridays, few places to work in Tucson

Cons

It's like working in an old timey country club. Company pretends that power-hungry white men don't dominate the culture... but it's 100% sexist, classist, ageist, and racist underneath. Don't believe a single bit of training or diversity messaging that they push - it's fake. If you see a woman with lots of power - she is one of them in sheep's clothing. There are different rules for different folks. They care 110% about profit and 0% about people. If you can help it, stay away!

Could Be Worse

Pros

There's plenty of work to do for the workaholics, overachievers, and overtime farmers. The work can be interesting if you know the right people.

Cons

Poor facilities (warm sometimes hot rooms due to bad AC, small cubes with little to no storage, gross cloudy water coming out of faucets, broken coffee machines, conference room and lab chairs are often broken). Many areas don't have enough seating. Technical contributors are undervalued and pressured to go into management in order to get promoted. Reorgs are common and functional managers can change often. Poor program planning and management are frustrating and not uncommon. Insufficient program staffing is common. Leadership team seems out of touch with the engineering population and incapable of honestly addressing concerns of engineers. Overworked IT teams, weak computer hardware, slow networks, spotty web services are a constant drain on productivity. 401k management was downgraded from Fidelity to Alight.
