Pros

Incredible growth opportunities. No limits on career growth. You could try everything at RMD, even fields you're interested in but have little prior experience. Off-Fridays and flex-time are awesome. Direct management respects personal time. The culture here is very much, if you want to try something new, someone will help you do it.

Cons

UTC merger ruining a good thing. RMD really was amazing until the merger. Health/retirement benefits are the worst I've seen yet! NO SICK/PERSONAL TIME (you're expected to use PTO). So liberal, its borderline discrimination of certain groups. Expect to wear a mask forever and get all the jabs if you want to keep your job. If you're coming from a structured/process driven organization, expect no standardization here. Literally every program does things differently. Immature corporate processes/structure here.

Pros

Exceptional individual teams: Each team I worked with at Raytheon was filled with talented and dedicated individuals. The expertise and passion within each team were undeniable. Strong learning and development opportunities: Raytheon offers a variety of training programs and resources for personal and professional growth. I learned a lot during my time at the company. Competitive benefits: Raytheon provides a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Cons

Lack of clear vision and direction: The company's overall vision and direction were often unclear, making it difficult for employees to understand their roles and contributions to the bigger picture. Siloed structure: Communication and collaboration across different teams were challenging due to the company's siloed structure. Information sharing was often limited, and it felt like each team was operating in its own bubble. Challenges for new hires: Integrating into the company as a new hire was difficult due to the complex organizational structure and lack of onboarding support. It felt like I was thrown into the deep end without a life jacket. Limited opportunities for innovation: The siloed structure and lack of cross-functional collaboration stifled innovation and creativity. It felt like new ideas were often lost in the bureaucracy.

Pros

* Has some great products * Product catalog sold out forever, because our government is deadset on the "War As A Service" model and not just... you know. Ending them. * Some seriously deep, dedicated engineers floating around

Cons

* Management has a TON of Peter Principled inepts just shuffling things around and looking busy while absolutely nothing - ever - changes. Ever. * Zero interest or attention to employee retention. When HR was asked about this, directly, in a company all hands the response was: "Oh well, we're trying to recruit actively!" The misunderstanding of the question felt like the most honest answer we'd heard yet. * Limp recruitment. People are going to work on crypto or AI. Not defense. Not in the USA, anyway. *Raytheon has STD. It's pretty gross. Stands for Silo'd To Death. The nature of what we do creates 'containerization', which breeds inefficiency. In a healthy company managers will work together to combat that inefficiency, such as duplication of effort or forking standards. Not here. Here we just roll with it. Interdepartmental battles, pariahs, gluttonous power lords with absurd ideals (Cyber, looking at you, bud!), and dopey managers just looking to slide by enough time to get their next promotion are the way of the day.
