Pros

Some great people that really chip in to make ends meet

Cons

If you have any prior experience from an innovative marketing company or agency, it won't apply here. Leave it at the door. Everyone in leadership is very old-school, no employees are actually utilized for their talents and there's zero strategy in place. They quantify marketing success not based on KPIs but by the amount of collateral produced. There is also absolutely no growth opportunities within the department and hard workers aren't rewarded.

Thank you for you post and noticing that we do have really great people who do chip in to make it work. You point out a very true fact - its not how much collateral material you have it is how good is the material in moving the KPIs. I believe our team is getting better at both. Having just reviewed the merit file for this department, I can tell you that some very talented people were just promoted and the merit increases were delivered across the board. I am meeting with the functional leader of this department today and I will bring up the post and make them aware of your recommendation. Sincerely, Kurt Twining

Pros

You can move up and into other departments but with extreme difficulty.

Cons

The company is disorganized from the top down. Getting anything done is nearly impossible and when it is done management even has not much say in what is done. Turnover is extremely high and employee satisfaction is very low. There is a "good ole boy" feel to the company. There is an overall style of fear, intimidation and making employees feel as if they could lose their jobs at any time. Sales quotas are too high. Territories are not fairly spread. Favoratism is clear. When managers give action plans employees are told it is a track for improvement and termination is not discussed. Movement is difficult unless you know someone in another department. Pay rates are low, below market standards throughout the entire company. An atmosphere of freedom is told but micromanagement is the reality. Change is constant to the level that you never know what your job will be the next day. Employment roles are changed without asking or even notifying the employee. Customers are not the first priority. Support and implementation departments have extremely high turnover which makes support for clients even more difficult. New companies are purchased regularly but migration or integration of new products is poor due to lack of internal organization. Overall it is a very unpleasant place to work.
