More Cons than Pros!

Pros

New building is nice with gym and cafeteria. HR constantly tries for improvements if they let them. Pay and benefits are comparable.

Cons

Open floor plan where managers don't even have a cubical. Employees don't feel valued. CEO doesn't seem to care about employees much. Constants layoffs, especially at senior managements level. No work life balance and if you leave on time, no promotion for you. Small company that grew into a mid-size company in a short time due to acquisitions, however still tries to manage with small company systems and culture. No training classes like mid-size and large companies and if you want to register for classes, you have to answer your managers which will looks bad on you as you will miss some work days and they have to pay for it. Therefore, employees won't go for it.

Thank you for your post. I would like to learn more from you if you are willing to let me buy you lunch. We are growing quickly into a mid size company. The new building has been very well received for the most part. You are correct not everyone has an office, or an office of the same size, but that was a conscious choice we made in the layout. We wanted to have more light reflected throughout the building. Now we actually do have classes and training available. RealPage was awarded a $1.3m training grant from the state of Texas, and classes are going on as we speak in multiple disciplines and skills levels. Managers are assigning their employees up on a continuous basis. I agree with your advice. Again, feedback is a gift and I would like to learn more on a deeper level if you are willing to share. Pros

Close to where I live, flexible work hours. Not many other pros at all, except for being close enough to other businesses where you can go apply at lunchtime.

Cons

Everything else. Workplace violence and harassment is company standard. Theft is abundant. Restrooms are few. Unprofessional atmosphere beyond comprehension.

Pros

Great work environment, smart co-workers and management in the IT sector. Benefits are also decent, with good mobility and a career plan.

Cons

You may not end up doing what was described to you in your interview. With many repeat employees, this shop has the art of the good interview down. There is also quite a bit of fishy business in the company's history and books. Look closely.

I'm glad you enjoyed smart coworkers, career mobility and solid benefits. However you have taken a conspiracy thought that has no basis in truth. I personally know how diligent we work as a company and with our external auditors and I can assure you this is a very ethical company. I wish you well in future endeavors. Sincerely, Kurt Twining
