Pros

Open Source Technology is cool

Cons

No transparency with management While they claim to be approachable... they aren't. Not at all. Very little diversity within organization (e.g. mostly Old White Males. The End.) Working with an enterprise product stack is less interesting than you might think

Pros

-lots of passionate/driven/hardworking employees -minimal micromagement (depending entirely on department) -growth opportunities (if you know the right people, or the "in" crowd) -good benefits -free snacks/drinks/first aid kit -awesome new headquarters building (in Raleigh)

Cons

-departments are very segmented (internally and externally) -pay seems low compared to past experience with similar tech companies -because the company has grown rapidly, many processes dont exist. Even if processes are in place, they're often not followed in order to cater to the "tenured" employees -bad mentality from tenured employees with attitude of "this is how its always been done, so why should we change" -long hours are the norm -upper management (depending on department) shows obvious favoritism to those who kiss a$$ -very little work/life balance. if you need to leave early to pick up your children or go to a doctor's appointment, you're almost frowned upon (at least in my experience)

Pros

Great technology, innovation, employees are encouraged to speak up. Red Hat has a dynamic global work force and hires the top talent no matter where they live in the world. Employees are not micro-managed and are empowered to utilize their skills and experience in their fields.

Cons

RedHat's corporate "branding" team thinks they run the company and members step out of their boundaries to monitor every social post or opinion of employees who blog, tweet or just have opinions they express on a social media platform. I'd bet someone in branding will read this review and attempt to stick their 2 to 4 cents in on my post. Management might be too focused on wall street and keeping analysts happy at times;
