Pros

Lots of good people. Pay OK, benefits OK, culture OK in pockets.

Cons

It's difficult to maintain the culture as a company grows. The acquisition by IBM hasn't helped. The culture is still strong in pockets, but many mid-level managers are just looking out for themselves and many VPs are not at the table when critical decisions are being made. IBM acquired a growth company but is trying to run it like a boring, stable company.

Pros

There are great people working at Red Hat. Before they left, my bosses really treated me like an equal.

Cons

People are very siloed. There is too much duplication of effort going on and so many people left that it was difficult to find people who knew how to get things done.

Pros

Really smart technical people. Friendly for remote workers.

Cons

IBM pressure is changing the culture. More infighting, impossible quotas, tight travel budgets. Strangely not that diverse in management compared to other companies in IT.
