Pros

Nice building. Period. They are a marketing company and they do a good job presenting themselves as a company your would want to work for....you have to give them that!

Cons

The "smoke & mirrors" is the building, amenities, and propaganda that make Red Ventures look like a great place to work. The reality is a company that truly does not value their employees: Some examples: 1. Low pay 2. Ask to go to the bathroom like in grade school 3. You could be a sales superstar for years- have one bad month and YOUR FIRED! 4. Upper management is arrogant, a slave to metrics, and has no real vision or ethics. 5. Look at the companies they represent- (Satellite internet? Haha.) I admit it- I "drank the kool-aid" they fooled me by their marketing propaganda. I truly believed I was getting into a good company and I ignored the warning signs and other things I heard from other people who had previously worked here. I thought "I will be different" they weren't good sales people or they are just bitter. BELIEVE ME- You do not want to work for this company.

Pros

It's a job. If you're wiling to sell completely out and lose your sense of morals it can be consistent. You have chances to win things daily. The cafe and the workers ther are top notch.

Cons

This place will suck you dry. I started out as an agent which where most people start. Management knows how to sell you the dream. I started out with the absolute worst PM who never offered any real assistance and if you could finally flag her down to help you her attitude made it seem like it was painstaking. We moved businesses to what had to be the worst biz ever and lo and behold they sold us another dream on how easy this sale was....lies. they ended up putting all of us on action plans so we had 2 weeks to get it straight or lose your job. I was able to survive and eventually settle in to one of the top sales agents. I was promoted to team lead and that's where the fun began. Lying to agents knowing their fate was sealed as you sent them to a coaching only so you could pack their stuff as they were being fired. Being judged daily on your team not hitting goals that someone in marketing drummed up as attainable. Being judged for how you dress, act and look which was very rude and really just disturbed me. Being yelled at or being berated for not doing more more more work. Watching agents morale decline and not being able to just tell them the truth. Those were the things that hurt the most. Treating people who needed this job like numbers. It's the worst and if I were you considering a job there know full well that this job is not stable, they prey on the meek and if you can't cut it they will do theor due diligence to get you out of the door...no remorse.

Red Ventures Response
11y
Hello, sending a response here because this is one of the more concerning reviews we’ve seen. We truly believe our employees – and particularly our sales agents – are the most important asset RV has. No one should be treated like a number and while you feel that has happened on your team, please understand that is not representative of the RV philosophy or who we are as a whole. We’re glad to see that you’ve risen into a team lead role in spite of difficult circumstances – and we encourage you to be the positive leadership example for your team that you, unfortunately, don’t feel you were given. We are confident in your (and your team’s) ability to provide the positive work experience we all want for our teams. Thanks again for taking the time to share this, and we look forward to seeing better results soon.

Pros

free health insurance good commissions for top performers (I'm one so I'm ok with the comp plan even though it changes every month) convenient location more mature workforce - probably only temporary until the job market gets better and we can find REAL jobs

Cons

No paid holidays other than Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day for Agents. Corporate closes for a whole week and Christmas and gets every Federal holiday off with pay - as matter of fact, my Christmas vacation request was DENIED due to workforce needs - cause heaven forbid we don't have enough people selling over the holidays Those pictures you see on facebook of "company trips" - those are for corporate ONLY - as a matter of fact, just looked at some of those pictures and have no idea who any of those people are - they must work upstairs (agents are downstairs) Constant threat of losing job - memos after each job fair from Managers saying "see those people, they want your job and they can have it if you don't want to be here, so sell, or leave" Monthly change in comp plans - don't want too many people making too much money Crazy hours - if you have a family, they don't care - you can have a 3 month old baby and be assigned to work from 3-midnight every day (or work weekends) - and if you don't like your schedule, there's someone waiting to take your place "Charlotte's Best Places to Work" survey - not optional - when only a few agents filled it out online, HR came around with paper forms and told the managers to have all agents complete the survey that day - then managers put the agents initials on the sealed envelope to know who wrote what - nice anonymous survey...I was honest on mine and mailed it from home best way to describe Red Ventures - WHITE COLLAR SWEAT SHOP - the agents are in desperate need of union organization to come in and make things right I have seen some pretty outrageous behavior from management - cannot believe the way some manager talk to the agents - it's a lawsuit waiting to happen
