Pros

Let me put this out here up front - kCura is a great company to work for, with great benefits, a great product, great potential, and above all great employees. I think the senior management does a great job, but some of the middle/lower management has issues.

Cons

One of the biggest cons is the annual review process. You get reviewed by your manager, and occasionally by your peers. But once managers have finished all their reviews, they have to get together to "equalize" review scores. What this means is that if any team is performing above and beyond other teams, their scores are lowered so that they don't appear to be performing as well. And worse yet, any manager can knock down scores of any employee or prevent promotions, whether or not they actually manage or work with that employee. There are also managers that will not let employees transfer to other teams (sometimes you just need a change of pace), leaving your only option being to leave the company. We have lost some great talent lately.

Pros

Great people, great pay, good work environment, great benefits. The products have incredible potential to help make the world a better place. I think some of the bad reviews are unfounded, as a lot of new employees are straight out of college, and have no reference for comparison. Believe me, I have worked at some horrible places in the past, and this isn't one of them.

Cons

Things sometimes change at the drop of a hat. Sometimes the environment is not necessarily geared toward employees who are married, or commute a long distance, but that has gotten better. They need a longer term vision for the product than just the current release. If developers knew what the plans are for the product from 6 to 24 months out, it would help them plan and design accordingly, and possibly make future development faster. Also, with so many young developers, you need more time for testing, as sometimes a lot of bugs get introduced.

Pros

It's best suited for recent graduates or people who have no prior work experience. They offer an attractive benefits package, and it's a good option for people who want their personal and work life to strongly intersect. You're virtually required to hang out with your co-workers after work, on weekends and at social events if you want to have a career here. That's a positive for some people, but a major negative for others.

Cons

What others have said here is true. The company is run like a cult. It's one thing to have company values, but it's another when they put the values on your keycard, in your cubicle, in the kitchen, and in all of the lounge walls. My team is forced every few months to get together and talk about how we have used kCura's core values to enhance our personal lives. And you better have a good story! The biggest problem with kCura's obsession with core values is that they use it as a threat more often than as encouragement. Simply voicing concerns can sometimes be enough to be told that you're not adhering to core values. Worse yet, management has an extremely myopic view of right and wrong. A great example was when I overheard one of the sales directors arguing on the phone with a customer. He said with a straight face "we aren't arrogant. In fact, we're ridiculously humble. We pride ourselves on our humility! I will send you our core values to prove to you how wrong you are!"
