Pros

Positive, motivated, super smart people who love to help each other. A hugely successful business created from the ground up by awesome people. They care about great software and it shows. Awesome culture of putting the customer first and building a great experience.

Cons

Mandatory 9 hour day, sometimes people can be obsessive about work to the point of making you feel bad for working normal hours. It's beginning to feel more and more like a run of the mill big company where nobody really cares about you.

Pros

The company is a lot of fun. They give a lot back to the community, which is cool. Work environment is very laid back, the people are all great. The company shuts down between Christmas and New Years, which is nice. That is in addition to our already generous amount of paid time off. Other benefits seem to be above average. Company pays for nice equipment to work on, and has a fairly generous training budget.

Cons

People in product development have a measurable amount of frustration. The company has grown a lot, and the CEO/CTO (same person) thinks the scrappy, short-term problem solving attitude that worked when the company had 20 people is still appropriate when the company has a few hundred employees. There is a no-work-from-home policy: the company requires you take a day of paid time off rather than put in a day of work if you have to stay home for a home repair or a sick child or a delivery or whatever. CEO seems to put more of a premium on quantity of features in the product rather than overall usability of the product.

Pros

This is a company is great. It is one of the best places to work in Chicago. It's got a small company feel. You can go into the CEO's office and have a normal conversation about anything without worry. Everyone is open and relaxed but hard working as well. This company also provides everyone with the tools they need to do their jobs. Devs have brand new 12 core machines with 32GB of RAM and 30 inch monitors. Everyone gets an iPad when they start. There's also fruit deliveries twice a week, happy hour every month and an atmosphere that is fun and enjoyable. You also get 18 days off, including sick days, but what's great is you don't have to use your sick days when you're sick. You can also sell back hours for extra paycheck or move it to the next year. And we get the whole week from Christmas to New Years off!

Cons

You are required to work 9 hour days with an hour lunch in between. It's not very flexible with hours. The work itself isn't the most exciting, it is litigation software after all.
