Not Worth Your Time

Pros

Nice office space, free food, some good individual contributors.

Cons

Senior level leadership lacks integrety and is not trustworthy. They have no respect for employees. Communication is awful. There are lots of all hands meetings for fluff but important things are not communicated. C-level leaders are mostly only interested in power and their own careers, not the good of the company or their employees. Nothing promised should ever be trusted. Changed remote work policy to a very awful hybrid model that requires employees more than an hour away to commute in 30 days a quarter. The culture has become very toxic. This used to be a great place to work.

Low pay for tons of work

Pros

Very relaxed atmosphere, relaxed dress code. Great content in the LMS and fantastic courses! Love the PTO, 401k opportunities, HSA and dependent care. Reimbursement for various expenses and insurance deductibles. It's a great way to get some experience right out of college. Some very bright & talented young people to work with, and get some software experience.

Cons

I have never in my 20+ years of working been micromanaged and critiqued as much as Relias has. They only hire completely inexperienced managers who have absolutely NO CLUE what management and leadership are about. They watch every single thing you do, and treat you like you are stupid. They manage via a spreadsheet. Employees are constantly compared to one another, and nothing you do is good enough. All they care about are metrics, metrics, metrics. That is not how you manage people!!! And definitely not how you build client relationships. The LMS has constant issues and you deal with unhappy customers pretty consistently....it should be apparent by the constant contract cancellations and non-renewals. The opportunity for advancement is remote with the high level of competition (or not being friends with the right people). Extremely low pay!!!

Relias Response

Thanks for the feedback and the review in general. Love hearing about the pros (and couldn't agree more) but unfortunate to hear some of those cons. Sounds like most of your concern is based around management. As with any company that prefers to promote from within there are going to be managers who are in their 1st leadership position which requires a learning curve. On the other hand, there are a number of great leaders and people managers in the organization. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like that was the experience you had. If you'd like to discuss further you can always email us directly at recruitment@reliaslearning.com. We're always appreciative of the feedback from former employees. Thanks again for the review.

I was proud of my work but not proud of who I worked for

Pros

I would come back and work for Relias SIMPLY because of the benefits. That was the absolute greatest pro. I would need it for workplace therapy.

Cons

All of the cons are true. The sheer amount of layoffs has been mindblowing. Catastrophically mind blowing. There are a lot of positions with no pathway for career advancement. Top down. They would promote a job but actual career pathing was non-existence. They took away merit based raises while not removing merit-based expectations. I repeat. THEY TOOK AWAY RAISES. You had to write a nice little paragraph to your boss to qualify for a good job bonus instead of just being recognized for your hard work. THIRD TIME. THEY TOOK AWAY RAISES. The major thing BESIDES TAKING AWAY RAISES and then that god-awful back to work rollout in a place where you have to book a desk, was the back to back to back failed projects. We wasted SO much time crunch working on launches only for the launch to be pushed back forever and ever or for the product to be snatched away because engineering and UX/UI wasn't given enough time to spit shine the rollouts. Every time we turned around something new was being introduced. The only decent thing that came out of the 3-4 secret projects was the release of the Nurse.com website. App sucked, they let good brands like WCEI fall into the trash, they kept people working on brands that are aimless (FreeCME) and good directors and managers and individual contributors who kept the company afloat while they threw darts at balloons for initiatives were let go. For practically nothing.
