Pros

Fully Remote. Base pay is fair. There are some great human beings.

Cons

It's disheartening as the proclaimed values aren't maintained. There's notable favoritism and questionable practices. The managers' assertiveness makes asynchronous work impractical, and micromanagement, along with numerous issues spanning payroll, legalities, and lifecycle, creates a broken environment. Rather than focusing on what works, the company is diverting attention, losing valuable clients in the process to compete. Slow responses from internal teams contribute to chaos, and extra hours of work not relevant to my role. I quit. Working for Remote is a nightmare, and many positive reviews appear dubious – RepVue offers a more accurate perspective. I joined for strong values but feel deceived; the company doesn't set you up for success and raises quotas substantially every quarter, leading to more work for less reward. Your work is pretty much apologizing to clients all day, everyday when you are not the one causing issues. Horrible. The VP of Sales for the Americas left. The CRO left. A lot of people leaving every week. There is something fundamentally very wrong.

Pros

If you're going to work remotely, it's great to do it at a company with the culture and infrastructure for it Good hardware and software Most people were friendly

Cons

"dispersed" (e.g., async, different time zone work) doesn't actually work. This means people end up having to work weird hours to make team calls, or are consistently excluded from calls, which leads to slow or ineffective project management. Also, even though there's no office, it's England/Portugal/Netherlands-heavy, meaning there are a lot of meetups, etc. of those employees that aren't viable for more remote employees to join. Comp is mediocre. They already did a round of layoffs for growing too quickly, and there's no central coordination to deal with how quickly they grew. It constantly felt like teams were working with either no knowledge of each other's goals or at actual odds. Something I didn't consider enough in joining is that their business model basically compounds whatever the market is-- if the market is good, they boom, if the market is bad, they'll get crushed. It's a high risk space.

Toxic and incompetent management

Pros

Working remotely is the only pro.

Cons

Don't believe all of the fake positive 5 star reviews published by the People and Management teams. This is the most toxic and incompetent place I have ever worked. None of the company values are genuine. The majority of employees are underpaid or kept at a glass ceiling while performance reviews are used to criticise everyone and ensure you do not get a pay rise. Only the management team are well remunerated. Everyone else is disposable. I cannot emphasize what poor infrastructure this company has. The internal policies, constantly weekly changes, hundreds of daily slack messages and toxic management team make this place a terrible place to work. There is constant emphasis on how asynchronous work is possible but it's a blatant lie. The entire business is really built on UK, Portugal, Netherlands, Ireland and USA. They have no idea how things work in other countries and even get basic things wrong in the countries where they hire the most people. Numerous clients complain about payroll mistakes, tax issues, legal risks and lack of employment law knowledge. This really reflects the poor standard of hiring across certain teams including LC, Legal, Tax and Payroll. I have personally dealt with some of the leaders of these teams are they are utterly incompetent even on basic technical skills expected of their roles. There has been a lot of secret redundancies in the last few months and the business is clearly struggling. Competitors are constantly poaching the most talented people and many of the mid-level managers are under constant pressure because of incompetent leadership. This is a business which is only aiming to make short term gains so that the leadership team can make big money personally before it all ends up collapsing. The only positive thing about this company is ability to work remotely. Even then, those based outside of their main timezones are expected to have meetings and respond to messages at ridiculous hours.
