Pros

- Asynchronous work culture - Strong people team leadership - Not high-stress (in my experience) - Flexible work environment

Cons

- US based benefits, they're a bit dated and limited - When asking for help or seeking guidance internally the documentation team will tell you "just read more" "read people read" - Mid and upper management are not strong enough to move the organization forward and are empowered to launch vanity projects that have no viability

Pros

Remote, flexibility, great peers, was once a great place to work

Cons

Everything the boast is false - there is no transparency whatsoever and HR is a total joke. They promote folks with no management experience or qualifications to lead others. Communication stinks. Departments have no idea what other departments are doing. Leadership is far more concerned with their own egos than the mental health and positive working environment of their staff. HR is a total joke. Used to be a great place until they systematically got rid of effective management and scaling became more important than the happiness and well being of the employees

We greatly appreciate your honest review as it helps us understand how we can enhance the work experience for our team. We're delighted that you found the flexibility we offer appealing, and that you built strong relationships with your peers. However, we're truly concerned about your feedback on transparency, HR, and leadership within our organization, and take them seriously. We recognize that as a fast-moving company, alignment across departments could be better, and we’ve recently implemented a better cadence of communications to ensure everyone is well-informed and working together effectively. We’ve also recently published new guidelines for promotions at Remote, to ensure complete fairness and transparency in career advancement. Your input is invaluable, and we're determined to make the necessary changes. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

You get to work remotely.

Cons

Our new “CRO” has ruined the sales org. If you’re thinking of joining the Remote sales team, I highly advise you to look elsewhere. The commission structure has changed without notice several times leaving many reps super frustrated and without pay for large opps they’ve closed. Several of my reps will probably leave soon, including various managers whose feedback is not taken into consideration. Our “CRO” doesn’t seem to care and thinks he can just replace people. Not sure why our investors want to let a technical co-founder run the sales org. Both of our VPs can give recommendations and feedback to the “CRO”, but he doesn’t seem to care, and they don’t want to put their neck on the line. Morale is the lowest I’ve ever seen since I joined. Quarterly sales quotas are increased significantly without a clear rationale, leading to extreme pressure on reps without proper recognition or compensation. The lack of transparency in target setting results in unrealistic expectations, negatively impacts performance reviews and salary adjustments. Some of my reps haven't received a raise since joining a few years ago. Our “CRO”, Director of Global Sales Development, and many other “leaders” are extremely removed from the front lines and don’t take the time to see what my reps are actually struggling with, and what our SDR team is struggling with as well. How about spending a day or two on the front lines to see what is actually happening? Many of my reps tell me that their work is apologizing to clients all day, every day, when they are not the ones causing issues. Competitors are out-innovating and outpacing us in almost every area possible. We will continue to fall behind the competition this year until we are in a distant 3rd or 4th. To our CEO and investors, how long are you going to let this continue? Yes, you can always hire more sales managers and reps when people leave or are fired, but the ramp-up time and morale will suffer. Find a real "CRO" soon or get ready for a mass exodus over these next few months.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are in a period of high growth and full steam ahead with transforming our Go to Market, which comes with changes across the sales organization. We are working at a rapid pace and setting a high bar for ourselves, so we understand that some of these changes may feel abrupt, and we're truly sorry to hear about your frustrations. We will continue to work on improving communication, clarity, and transparency regarding change. Please know that our transformation is a team effort, and your participation and voice are a crucial part of the process. If you aren’t comfortable sharing your ideas and questions through open channels, you are also welcome to reach out to any leader directly any time, or speak with HR or your manager to discuss your concerns in more detail.
