Pros

-Feels almost "nonprofit-like" in how the mission to accelerate learning for all truly guides activities -Senior leadership is imperfect, but approachable and generally open to feedback, see recent increases to salary for most of the Sales team -Genuinely kind coworkers

Cons

-Onboarding is clunky and needs to improve in a predominantly remote environment -Some middle-level leadership is weaker than others and needs developing or replacement -Communication needs improvement

New Applicants Beware

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Solid products, noble mission, decent pay

Cons

In my opinion, Renaissance is not the company it once was. It has cycled through investors for years and lost pieces of itself with every exchange. Senior leadership no longer values veteran employees and is disconnected from the reality of the K12 market. In my opinion, there is a lot of unqualified, undeserving and unfit middle management. Micromanagement is used because there is no trust. Favoritism is rampant and proper coaching is missing. Intimidation contaminates morale and creates a toxic work environment. Sales is bombarded with double- and triple-standards and picks up a lot of slack for other departments. In my opinion, honesty and hard work are undervalued---explanations are considered excuses, actions are over-assessed, and genuine effort is deemed insufficient. Sales performance recognition is upside-down---do your best and someone else will take credit for it, or get all the respect if you are assigned an affluent territory. In my opinion, applicant beware--underneath the facade of a mission to accelerate learning, you will find unethical policies, unrealistic goals and misguided priorities.

Pros

I enjoyed working for Renaissance for five years. Excellent product. Sales culture was positive until the end of 2020 beginning of 2021.

Cons

Pay inequity was severe. Transparency into how sales was commissioned was extremely low. When new CRO took over the culture shifted from one of trust and equity to one of mistrust and inequity. It was tough to get approval in a timely fashion because the CRO had final input on everything. I was extremely successful every year and was compensated less with higher goals the following year.
